Bhalukpong

Prashaanti Cottage

Situated on the banks of Jia Bhoroli river (also known as river Kameng), Prashaanti Cottage at Bhalukpong offers a spectacular view of the convergence of the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas with the plains of Assam.

Prashaanti Cottage is the gateway to Nameri National Park and Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.
The river Kameng traverses down the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh, changes its name to Jia Bhoroli, flows along the property and through the Nameri National Park to the join mighty Brahmaputra.
The sunrise from the resort looking across the Kameng is mesmerising. Whether you decide to spend a night or two, Prashaanti Cottage will surely provide a relaxing time, away from the hustle bustle of city life.

Went with family for a 2-day weekend break. Had booked deluxe rooms but upgraded to the non AC. cottage. I would strongly recommend the cottage as they offer an excellent view of the Jia bhorali river. The restaurant is average and so is the service. You can trek down to the river which is about 500 m away....and enjoy the natural view by the river. Nothing much around in Bhalukpong town as such but you can drive up to a little of Arunachal Pradesh and enjoy the drive.

Great view, decent stay!

The main attraction of the lodge is the view of the Kameng river flowing right in front of it... Though the lodge needs more attention, the view of the river and the experience by the riverside more than make up for that!...

This was initially an Assam Govt. Tourist Lodge and now run by a private company. The location is off the main highway just before the Arunachal border gate. This is also called Prashanti Cottage and Jia Bhoroli river (Kameng in Arunachal) runs just on the other edge of the resort. They have different types of rooms and if you plan to spend just for the night on your way towards Tawang then standard rooms should serve your purpose. The rooms are big with clean toiled, geyser for hot water and satellite tv. Do not forget to take a walk towards the river to feel a natural beauty and the tranquility amidst the sweet sound of the flowing stream. You can spend hours there. The restaurant is good with mouthwatering dishes. Try the chicken pakora there.
